Katherine Nguyen • Class of 2006

I attended St. Martin of Tours Academy from preschool to eighth grade and went to Cathedral Catholic for high school. After high school I attended University of California San Diego for college and received a Bachelor of Science in General Biology. Upon graduating I worked for Achieve TMS as a transcranial magnetic stimulation coordinator working with physicians and treating patients with depression and anxiety. After a few years I decided to go into nursing and I recently completed my Bachelor of Science in Nursing at Azusa Pacific University and will be continuing the program to become a Family Nurse Practitioner.

SMA’s Workshop Way has helped me in more ways that I even realized! Time management was a huge skill that I learned at an early age which has been extremely helpful to me in my nursing career. Eye contact when speaking to people is something that was ingrained in me from my teachers at St. Martin which has been helpful with all of my interviews and a great life skill to have. Independence and leadership were also important skills that have helped shape who I am today. All of the things that I learned from Workshop Way has provided me with lifelong skills that paved the way to my successes. In addition to these skills, I also developed amazing friendships along the way. I still keep in contact with friends I have made since I was 4 years old and I will forever be grateful for this amazing community I grew up in.

I grew up as a competitive figure skater and in addition to being a nurse, I coach figure skating.
