Parent Newsletter • 6/15/17

Dear Parents,
We had a wonderful final school Mass last Friday.  Father Jim received a photo book as a gift from all of us covering the years he was pastor and superintendent of our school. (2005-2017) It included pictures of dedications, Masses, classroom visits, and more.  Lucy Hopkins recently interviewed Father Jim and created a very memorable video with his“words of wisdom” and what his plans are for his retirement.  I hope all of you have the chance to view it. The link is below.  Father Jim has truly been a gift to our school and it is reflected so well in the video and the memory book.  We also recognized Kathy and Chris Connors for their years of service and dedication to our school.  They received a beautiful plaque in their honor.
We have a few staff changes to share with you.  Our primary art teacher, Krista Scott is getting married and recently moved to Tucson, Arizona.  P.E. teacher, Taylor Rasche is also getting married and moving to Oxnard.  Music teacher, Maria Didur is moving to New York and Liana Zoni, 7th & 8th Religion & 8th grade English Language Arts teacher will continue her education full time. I am in the process of filling these positions and will let you know more about our new staff members in the fall.
In closing, as I say goodbye to all of you for the summer, I am mindful of and grateful for all the people who have made this a wonderful school year for me and for all of us at St. Martin of Tours Academy. As the year progressed, I tried to thank each of you for all that you do, and I hope I have not slighted anyone. But, I would like to say one final THANK YOU for 2016-2017 to: our teachers and staff (I am blessed to be surrounded by so many talented and dedicated people); our pastor, Fr. Jim Poulsen for his support of our school; Bob Dyar who assists with finances and facilities; Lee Anne Iagmin and the entire School Board; Anna Kennedy (Room Parent Coordinator); all the room parents and those who have assisted in school events and fundraisers, especially to Tracy Giordano for Walkathon and Kathy and Chris Connors for their ongoing dedication to Bingo. I want to give a special thank you to all those who work bingo, to our after school sports coaches, and lastly, to those parents who help at school on a regular basis assisting the office, helping with lunch supervision, morning traffic duty and library. You are awesome and very much appreciated!
