CRS Rice Bowls – Encounter Lent at SMA!

Our school and parish is participating in the Catholic Relief Services Rice Bowl for “Encounter Lent”, a faith-in-action program that will help us experience Lenten spirituality by living in solidarity with people in need around the world.

Every student will receive a CRS Rice Bowl following the blessing of the bowls during Ash Wednesday’s school Mass at 8:30am.(2/14) Be sure to check out the Lenten Calendar inside. To kick-off this program, we invite families to the Parish/Academy Community Dinner next Friday evening at 5:30 pm in the Parish Hall. In addition to “Casanova Fish Tacos” we will be featuring videos of Stories of Hope in Iraq, Nicaragua, Burkina Faso and Haiti. You will also be able to sample meatless meals from each of these countries. Hope you and your family will come!

New Science Tables:

Recently the seventh grade classroom moved one step closer to being a full science lab. The rest of the science tables were delivered along with a teachers demonstration table. This will
improve our ability to conduct science experiments in middle school. The tables are designed with chemical and heat resistant tops that greatly expand our science experiment options.
